Ride to Remember Casey Event Recap

The First Annual Ride to Remember Casey Poker Run was a tremendous success! They raised $3000.00 for CURE Childhood Cancer!

The members of the American Legion Riders Post 216 are committed to making this an annual event and look forward to it growing each year. Casey Callaway, the grandson of one of their members, passed away in 2007 from cancer and this ride was in his memory.

CURE would like to thank all who participated in this event and everyone who worked so hard to make it possible

Why Do You Support CURE?

“My son was diagnosed Sept. 27 2009 with 2 types of Lymphoma (Berkett’s Non Hodges and Large B Cell stage 4). We were in the hospital for 3 months and CURE was there supporting not only the children but the parents.  CURE came every Thursday and provided dinner.  In times like that every little bit helps. I would support them even if my child didn’t have cancer. No child should have to endure the pain these kids do with Chemo, LP’s, etc – I pray that there will be a cure to childhood cancer and sooner then later.”

SUPPORT CURE WITH SPECIAL MOTHER’S DAY GIFTS

As Mother’s Day quickly approaches, CURE is proud to offer a special way to both honor our beloved mothers and all the mothers in the world, while doing what is most important to them: taking care of children in need.

One of our favorite quotes is this:  “Mother’s are angels who lifts us up to our feet when our own wings have trouble remembering how to fly.”  Mothers are absolutely unique in their unselfish willingness to sacrifice their time and energy and so much more because of their immeasurable love for their children.  When we are young, we take their sacrifices for granted.  However, as we become adults, perhaps parents ourselves, we begin to truly appreciate the fine qualities of the love and affection our mothers have for us.

This year, consider giving your mother and other special mothers in your lives a gift which honors them and also helps children with cancer.  For a donation of $20, we will send a beautiful tribute card to a special mother of your choosing.  The card includes our favorite quote and a personalized message from you.  To view and/or purchase the card, click here.  To ensure delivery by Mother’s Day, orders must be received by May 4, 2010.

The CURE Childhood Cancer Annual Picnic is  a day of laughter and cheer for children fighting cancer and their families, a day to reconnect as families and to tap in to the support network of other families walking the same road and a compassionate community of supporters who provide critical assistance during times of need.

"Why Do You Support CURE?"

“I support CURE because my daughter, Bridget was diagnosed with All, a type of Leukemia a month before she turned 5. After 2 and half years she finished treatment on January 2 of this year. There are thousands of kids like Bridget that are still in treatment or will be diagnosed with childhood cancer this year. We have lost so many of these…”
