The Serendipity Life Joins with CURE Childhood Cancer to Make a Difference

Two Organizations are Better than One.

The Serendipity Life, a creative new fundraising company, announces that it has joined with CURE Childhood Cancer to raise funds for the fight against childhood cancer.  Serendipity has just launched its highly anticipated consumer based fundraising website and is featuring CURE Childhood Cancer as their first “Good Cause” to support.

Jonathan Potts, CEO of The Serendipity Life states “In the past, fundraising was a secondary source of funds for thousands of organizations.  Today, it has become their primary source – which means they must devote more of their hard won resources towards fundraising activities. The age of the traditional “fundraising drive” is over. In today’s new economic reality, if you aren’t fundraising every day of the year, you are losing valuable revenue. We have created a fundraising platform designed to minimize the stress of those raising the funds as well as remove many of the internal costs to the non-profit organization. It gives the supporters of these organizations a way to contribute to their favorite causes 365 days a year while enjoying our company’s high quality products. The causes, such as CURE Childhood Cancer, receive 50% of the proceeds from the sale of these products. It really does simplify the process of fundraising for everyone involved.”

“It’s really not that different than any other online shopping experience,” says Potts, “Only in this instance you by purchasing a Serendipity Life branded product you are immediately contributing to the causes that are most important to you. And if your cause isn’t already listed on our site, we have an easy process to add it.”

As part of a new age of responsible giving, The Serendipity Life has created a business model that rewards shoppers with very high quality products as it rewards worthy causes by contributing 50% of the purchase price directly to them.  The company utilizes several innovative techniques to create a positive experience for both Causes and Consumers alike.  Simply point your web browser to http://www.theserendipitylife.com, explore the many causes available, select your favorite cause, shop, and checkout.

4th ANNUAL SAM ROBB MEMORIAL HOLIDAY CLASSIC RAISES $20,000

CURE Childhood Cancer announces that the fourth annual Sam Robb Memorial Holiday Classic Basketball Tournament raised over $20,000 for the Sam Robb Fund of CURE Childhood Cancer.  Held December 27-29, 2010, the tournament featured over 70 teams of students ages four to eight, all from community schools.  The event honors the memory of Sam Robb, an avid sports fan and rising athlete that died of osteosarcoma at the age of 20 on June 25, 2007.

The Sam Robb Fund supports the Sam Robb Fellow at the Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Services of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University School of Medicine.  The Sam Robb Fellow helps train the pediatric oncologists of tomorrow, so that they are fully prepared for excellence in patient care, teaching and research.  In addition, the Sam Robb Fund helps defray the costs of prosthetic devices for children with a cancer diagnosis who cannot afford to purchase and/or maintain them.

“This event is a beautiful testament to Sam’s memory and love for athletics,” said Kristin Connor, executive director of CURE Childhood Cancer.  “The Sam Robb fund supports life-saving research and treatment for pediatric cancer patients like Sam.”

Robb’s family started the Memorial Classic in 2007 with only 25 teams.  The first event raised $9,000.  Over the past four years, the event has continued to grow, and collectively, the four tournaments have led to $56,000 in contributions to the Sam Robb Fund.

Over this year’s three-day tournament, over 1,500 spectators watched over 625 participants play basketball, and volunteers logged over 2,000 hours putting together the event.

“We are humbled by the way our community comes together every year to support CURE and honor Sam’s legacy,” said Annamarie Robb, Sam’s mother.

The event’s Presenting Sponsors were Coca Cola Refreshments, Morgan and Morgan, and The Cathedral Christ the King and host schools were Blessed Trinity Catholic High School, Marist School and Queen of Angels Catholic School.
