iRunner Blog and CURE Childhood Cancer

CURE Childhood Cancer advocates come from all over and chose to show their support in many different ways. For Scott Miles and Team iRunnerBlog, they have set out to raise $50,000 for CURE Childhood Cancer.

The team is participating in the ING New York City Marathon on November 6th, 2011. They are currently looking to fill their team with 20 runners to help fundraise and rally for CURE. The only requirement to join the team is that entry to the marathon must be secured by runner.

Brooks Running is sponsoring Scott’s team and there will be incentives for team members who reach certain levels of fundraising in the program. The iRunnerBlog will also provide a training program, answers to questions, and support from the awesome iRunner community!

We greatly appreciate the support from Scott and the iRunner team and wish them the very best of luck in their training as they prepare for the race.

Dr. Tobey MacDonald discusses his research for CURE Childhood Cancer

We have been hard at work so far this year at CURE Childhood Cancer. Working hard to support children in treatment and their families. Working hard to bring in new volunteers and donors to support the many initiatives aimed at finding a cure for childhood cancer. Working hard thru our research initiatives to advance the fight against childhood cancer.

There are amazing men and women also working hard every day who you don’t get to hear from very often:  our extraordinary team of CURE funded researchers.

Here is a video from CURE Funded researcher Dr. Tobey MacDonald:

MG Drive for CURE

CURE Childhood Cancer supporter John Deikis is in the process of driving a vintage sports car across North America June 4 -11 from Ocean City, MD to Lake Tahoe, CA. The car he is using is a 59-year old British MG-TD that he restored over 25 years ago.

For John, cancer is a very personal topic. In 1998, he was diagnosed with cancer of the larynx. He chose the path of laser surgery when it was in its early development. This surgery allowed him to regain full strength in his vocal cords! Ten years later, John is officially free from cancer!

During his time receiving treatment he encountered many young children dealing with cancer. This experienced has motivated John to raise both money for CURE Childhood Cancer and also to promote awareness for the cause. John also chronicles his journey on his blog, click here to read further, for more details and to show your support!
