Cure Childhood Cancer

Open Arms

CURE’s Open Arms Meal Program is designed to bring comfort and community to patients and families undergoing treatment in the hospital. Twice a week CURE provides meals to families admitted to the hospital in an effort to create an environment where families can connect with one another and connect with CURE while enjoying a hearty meal.

Each Tuesday CURE staff and volunteers deliver and serve lunch to children and their families who are admitted to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Egleston and Scottish Rite campuses).

An Open Arms Lunch sponsorship allows the donating company, group, or individual the ability to join CURE staff and help serve the lunch to children with cancer and their families. Up to six individuals may volunteer during your company, group, or private sponsorship.

Sponsors have the choice of selecting their donation level. All sponsorship levels include food for both Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Centers at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Egleston and Scottish Rite campuses).

For $400.00 a picnic-style lunch will be offered. Examples of picnic-style lunches include: sandwiches, chips, dessert, and drinks.

For $600.00 a heartier meal will be offered. Examples of this type of lunch include: Italian and Mexican type foods with dessert and drinks.

Another lunch option perfect for companies, school service clubs, and church groups is our Brown Bag Lunches. 58 brown bag lunches are delivered by CURE volunteers and set out at the hospital for the patient’s caregiver. Lunch items are purchased and the bags are assembled by the donor and delivered to the CURE office. This option offers flexibility of timing and allows whole groups to contribute to the donation. An average brown bag lunch costs approximately $200.00.

* Please note that brown bag lunch sponsorship does not allow for direct interaction with children and families.

Generous donations made to the Open Arms Meal program at lunch will be recognized on the CURE’s Facebook page.

Each Thursday night, dedicated CURE volunteers deliver and serve dinner to children and their families who are admitted to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (Egleston and Scottish Rite campuses). A true staple in CURE’s programing, Open Arms Dinners help create a home environment where patients and families can enjoy a meal while experiencing the camaraderie that comes from being in each other’s company.

Open Arms Dinners can be supported by generous donors in two significant ways:

  • Restaurants can donate food to serve approximately 60 people.
  • Sponsors can cover the cost of the meals not donated by restaurants.

If you are interested in donating or sponsoring an Open Arms Dinner, or would like more information please contact Rhetta Ascari at 770-986-0035 ext 31 or email Rhetta@curechildhoodcancer.org.

Generous donations made to the Open Arms Meal program at dinner will be recognized on the CURE website and on CURE’s Facebook page.
